a picture of a long road with redwood trees on either side

Keith Perrin

Beneath the canopy of red giants
Where sunlight cannot land,
The still air separates me from
The world I once knew.
Surrounded by family,
I feel completely alone.
Walking along roots
Like playground slides.
The deafening sounds of nature
Drown out all conversation.
This is a different Earth than mine,
One to which I would gladly return
