I Will Forget You Not

By Matthew Tighe

You were a painful fire
I was consumed by your flame
But maybe that was my first mistake
not feeling love before.

I turned a blade on myself
to rip out my heart
and gift it to you
I watched you eat it before my eyes.

You drive me to the brink of death
I hate you deeply
Did you love me at all?
Or was it the way I treated you?

I love you so
I hold so dearly
onto the memory of you
I won't let go

The constant desire for you
doesn’t end
nor does the never-ending hatred
of myself

But for you
My love doesn’t end
I will die for you
Even if your love for me has long since passed
