The Air So Thick

The air so thick
It crushes my lungs
With each labored breath
I walk forward.
To the unknown
To a world without you
The sun burning
My eyes and skin
Heart bleeds
Leaving a trail of sorrow behind.
I don't dare look back to see you
To see her in your arms
Shielded
Cradled
Loved
Taken my place by your side
I travel on
Knowing that an oasis
Will come in the desert
In my darkest hour
My hero will emerge
My spirit fighting to repair
He will heal me
He will show me love
He will carry me
But now I must walk
Crawl
Rebuild what is broken inside
I will endure
carry on
You will not see me broken
not get that power
It is mine
